You've given me a new understanding of the play's title, the idea of giving others grace despite their flaws and limitations. Both Terry and Irving made mistakes in their lives, but they adored great drama, gave their all to their audiences, and, I believe, loved each other deeply even though they grew apart. I'm sending your piece to my friends who saw the play with me
I was looking to see when you would review, Susan, and loved all your wrote. Almost as good as being there. I hope it is either filmed or they bring it to NYC. Thanks so much!
What a grand (and graceful) way to wake up this morning, sipping this coffee (I'll pretend it's tea) and reading your beautiful article. Thanks for bringing us all to London.
Love this! I didn't know about the play Grace Pervades, but as a theatre undergrad I studied a bit about Ellen Terry, Henry Irving, and the Lyceum. How wonderful that a friend gave you the Pixie painting of Terry.
I appreciate your well-informed comments and insights. I enjoyed the play and the performances so much, and also wish I could've seen it again when in London. Ralph Fiennes was extremely well cast, I though, and Miranda Raison was charming.
You and Ellen Terry share many qualities: “illustrating every mood with an irresistible grace and a most spontaneous ease.” Grace, spontaneity, ease they are one and inseparable in Ellen Terry. The first is the greatest because it is the sum of all three.”

I'm so glad you got to see this production! I thought the casting for this show was spot on.

Stephanie, I think you would love this!
I would adore it! But I am not traveling to London this spring/summer, alas...so glad you could go!

You’re so welcome and I’m on team coffee myself!

I count myself very fortunate to have anything that is a true original piece of artwork by Pamela!
I hope they either film the production or bring the play to Broadway.
It's a limited run at the Haymarket but Mr. Fiennes has been heard at the stage door saying that he hopes it come to New York!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it as well! Your knowledge of all things English/British/Regency historical make reading your books a pleasure.
